Alice Springs facilities: Education, sport, medical & government

Find out what living in Alice Springs has to offer!

As the hub of central Australia, Alice Springs operates as the educational, sporting and government services center for the region.  As a result, the facilities available in the town are usually larger and better equipped than that of a city with a population several times larger than that of Alice Springs.

Sports

Alice Springs Town Council maintains over a dozen sporting fields and ovals for public use. This is in addition to the towns Olympic sized swimming pool found at the Aquatic & Leisure Centre.

Schools & Higher Education

Schools wise, Alice Springs contains seven pre-schools, and nineteen public and private schools covering both primary and secondary schools.  One such school is the world famous School of the Air.
Charles Darwin University operates a campus within the town offering higher education opportunities.

Health & Medical Services

The Alice Springs Hospital treats patients from regional and remote areas throughout central Australia. Specialists from around the country and overseas are always on hand to provide care and treatment. Alice Springs is also home to a Royal Flying Doctor Service base which provides emergency health care to remote areas.

Art & Culture

Alice Springs also offers an excellent library, and the Araluen Arts Complex which houses both permanent and traveling art exhibitions, stage and dance productions as well as film festivals and art house movies.
